There are many specialized careers that welcome graduates with writing and communication skills, such as public relations; corporate communications and training; publishing; document and information design; educational technology; web development; medical informatics; journalism; law; technical and scientific communication and teaching.
We teach a variety of undergraduate classes, including developmental writing, argument, academic discourse, as well as technical, scientific and business writing. The department offers an undergraduate minor in Rhetoric & Writing Studies, and a certificate in technical and scientific writing. We also offer a Masters degree that prepares students for advanced study in rhetoric, composition, communication, and related fields, as well as for careers in areas requiring advanced skills in written rhetoric.
