We are living in exponential times and information technologyâ€™s effects on society, globally and on the individual level, are real. These changes are noticeable in todayâ€™s college students, because they are the first generation to have grown up with computers. For these digital natives, a large portion of written and verbal communication occurs through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, instant messages, forums, blogs, etc. Shouldnâ€™t these social practices and their resulting discourse have a place in the college classroom? We have no choice if we want curriculum to remain current and relevant to our students.
